Self-Care ➖ How are you nurturing yourself?⠀


Self-care, self-love, nurturing or whichever word you prefer to describe looking after yourself is essential. It’s one of our most simple life skills but when life gets in the way, because it often does, or when we are not feeling our best selves, our own self-care is often the first essential life skill to go to the bottom of the list.⠀

Not looking after ourselves, not self-caring, can lead to us feeling both emotionally depleted and physically exhausted. The challenge sometimes is that we neglect our own self-care when life feels ok or busy. We might go from day to day on autopilot feeling like we are on a treadmill that we can’t slow down to self-care so we just keep going. It might not be until we actually stop, or just don’t have the energy to keep walking on that treadmill anymore, that we realise that we have let our own self-care slip.⠀

One strategy is to set up three simple, non-negotiable, morning and evening rituals - rituals that light you up and make you feel good. They support us in kickstarting our day with an essential dose of self-nurturing and assist us in winding down at night ready for bed. ⠀
